Hong Kong production outfit Filmko Pictures has sold European rights to supernatural thriller Inner Senses to Vancouver-based sales company Horizon Entertainment.

Horizon has several years experience handling Asian films in the European and North American markets. Its slate includes the celebrated Ring series, produced by Japan's Asmik Ace, one of its regular suppliers.

"European buyers have traditionally acquired Hong Kong films in packages, but the market is changing," said Filmko vice president of distribution Katherine Lee. "We prefer to work with someone who knows how to get each title to the right distributor in each territory, rather than sell on a market-by-market basis."

Inner Senses stars Leslie Cheung and Karena Lam and is directed by Lo Chi-leung whose writing and directing credits include Hot War and Hong Kong hit Fly Me To Polaris. The film has been selected for the competition section of the forthcoming Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) which runs from July 11-20 in South Korea.

Filmko, formed in 2000 by Alex Wong and filmmakers Derek Yee and Jacob Cheung, recently wrapped Banny Lo's Losing Thirty Years, the first title in a four-film co-production deal with Hong Kong's Media Asia. The company's forthcoming projects include Tsui Hark's Sword Master (also with Media Asia) and Arthur Wong's cloning drama DNA.
