Jackie Chan probably deserved better than the January 1 release date given to his latest film The Medallion. The film didn't stand much chance of competing with some well-known titles that have been around for the entire holiday season.

The Medallion produced one of the weakest Jackie Chan openings ever in Hungary and last week's other new release, the French horror Haute Tension flopped without much interest even from the genre's fans.

The Hungarian subway thriller, Control is becoming a true box office fairy tale but next weekend is unlikely to be about anything other than The Return Of The King which premieres on January 8. The only question remaining is whether The King will be able to outperform The Two Towers, the most successful film at the Hungarian box office in 2003.
