ICM has signed to package Falling Awake, the upcoming sci-fi thriller from Anagram Pictures, the Vancouver production company behind zombie comedy Fido. ICM will rep the film for the US and the rest of the world.

Scott Weber and David Jones wrote the screenplay; Weber is set to direct the story about a world where sleep is all but eliminated. Anagram's Mary Anne Waterhouse will produce. Maple Pictures, which has a first-look deal with Anagram through Telefilm Canada's slate development fund, will distribute in Canada.

Falling Awake is the second project under the Maple deal. Anagram is setting up two more: The Truth About Lying, written and to be directed by Anagram partner Andrew Currie, and Shooting Blanks, a comedy scripted by Anagram's Trent Carlson.

The first slate project, The Thaw, now in post, is set for delivery early next year. A coproduction between Anagram and Brightlight Pictures, the film is produced by Waterhouse and Carlson and directed by Mark Lewis. Brightlight's principals Steve Hegyes and Shawn Williamson are executive producers along with Anagram's Blake Corbett.

The sci-fi horror title stars Martha MacIsaac, Val Kilmer and Aaraon Ashmore. Maple holds Canadian rights while Nicolas Chartier's Voltage Pictures is handling all other sales.
