Indian music company Saregama HMV has unveiled its plans to enter film production which includes adding prominent Indian filmmakers Aparna Sen and BR Sharan to its leadership team.

Sharan will serve as chief creative officer to tap the Hindi film market while Sen will serve as chief creative officer focused on the Bengali film and television business. In addition, B R Vijaylakshmi will head the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam television content business.

The company has already produced three projects - Hindi film Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii, directed by Kitu Saluja which is slated for release in June 2007; Karma, Confessions And Holi, a co-production with Drena De Niro's Rapture Productions, and Sen's Japanese Wife.

'We are building an entertainment company which will create and market music, cinema, television and radio content,' said Saregama managing director Subroto Chattopadhyay.

'The best in class minds like Aparna Sen will help strategise film content and set up production processes. We are exploring cutting-edge technologies in filmmaking and bringing in best practices in the way films are made.'

Indian directors Santosh Sivan and Illaiyaraja are also committed to make projects for the company.
