New broadband Internet TV network Babelgum has announced its consumer launch later this year with beta testing ongoing.

The platform is now accepting content submissions from content creators and distributors. Digital and analog material of any length will be acepted. Content owners will soon be able to directly upload and manage their video material.

Babelgum says that it will combine the strengths of traditional TV with the interactivity, unlimited capacity and global reach of the Internet.

The company will use peer-to-peer technology and offer streams, not downloads.

Fastweb founder Silvio Scaglia and IT/telecommunications veteran Erik Lumer have founded Babel Networks, which is headquartered in Ireland and has offices in Italy, the UK, the US and France.
