Iron Ladies 2, the sequel cum prequel to the 2000 Thai smash,opened in Thailand with a blockbusting 37m Baht ($0.88m) in its first threedays over the weekend, a 78% increase on the original's opening total of20.8m Baht ($0.49m). Produced and distributed in Thailand by VisutePoolvoralaks' Tai Entertainment Co, the film is being handledinternationally by Fortissimo Film Sales which also handled the first film.

Iron Ladies was the true story of the Thai male volleyball teamwhich won the Thai National Championships in 1996 with a team consisting mostlyof gays, transvestites and transsexuals. The sequel follows the gender-bendingvolleyball team before they shot to stardom and is again directed by YongyoothThongkonthun.

Fortissimo has pre-sold thesequel to Klockworx in Japan, GV in Singapore, Golden Scene in Hong Kong, LongShong in Taiwan and Gil in Israel. The first film was sold across the worldincluding to Strand Releasing in the US, Mediatop in France, Sharada in Italy,Teleseis in Spain, Providence in Brazil and Dendy in Australia. In Thailand, itgrossed 98m Baht ($2.33m) and is the fourth biggest local film of all time aswell as taking some $2m in Hong Kong through Golden Scene and $1m in Japanthrough Klockworx.
