Italian independent producer Rosanna Seregni of Sintra Film has boarded a new Spanish film from Euro Pudding producer Mate Cantero, to be directed by Impules' Miguel Alcantud.

The picture, whose working title is Mozarteum, is a "gothic thriller " revolving around a training course for musicians.

The film, which is written by Fiorenzo Senese, together with Salvatore Demolo and Martin Casariego, is set to shoot in the southern Italian region of Puglia in 2003, on a budget of Euros 3.5m-4m.

Headed by Cantero and Stephane Sorlat, Madrid-based Mate Productions is a frequent co-producer with France and Latin America. In addition to Euro Pudding (L'Auberge Espagnole), Mate recently produced Arturo Ripstein's La Virgin De La Lujuria, and Sansa, a co-production with France's Initial.

Meanwhile, Seregni has also boarded as co-producer a Cuban film from director Joel Cano. The digitally-shot film, whose working title is Siete Dias, Siete Noches revolves around five women and was produced and written by Cano.

The film is currently in post-production and is co-produced with France's Les Films du Requin and Michel Reilhac's Melange.
