Jade Warrior, a film pitched at the Screen International European Film Finance Summit in Berlin, has now been financed and will shoot at the end of this year.

San Fu Maltha's Dutch production house Fu Works has boarded the film which is being produced by Tero Kaukomaa of Finland's Blind Spot Pictures. Kaukoma drily pitched the film as "the first ever Finnish martial arts movie," before adding that the director AJ Annila is "an unknown, even in Finland".

But the tale of a multi-skilled warrior who falls in love while on a mission to kill a demon, was warmly received by the seminar's panelists. With only Euros 600,000 missing of its Euros 1.5m budget, Jade Warrior looked a cinch to finance.

Maltha, will invest as a co-producer and take Benelux distribution rights for his A-Films Distribution outfit, earning himself an executive producer credit. Sandrew Metronome was previously on board as Scandinavian distributor. Kaukomaa now expects to put the film into production in Finland and Norwegian Lappland (standing in for Chinese locations) and to attach a foreign sales agent.

Blind Spot's slate also includes two pictures Geography Of Fear and Cyclomania, due for release in the next month, and comedy-drama Producing Adults.
