She will take up her new post in February.

Jana Bennett has been appointed as president of worldwide networks and global iplayer at BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC.

In her new role Bennett will have responsibility for BBC Worldwide’s BBC-branded channels and for BBC Worldwide’s 50% shareholding in UKTV. 

She will also be responsible for the global iplayer,  BBC Worldwide’s multi-platform distribution strategy for delivering British television content internationally, which is due to pilot in the first half of 2011.

Bennett has been at the BBC for the last eight years, firstly in the role of director of BBC television and then as director of BBC Vision.
