TheNew York Film Festival will hold a retrospective of the films released by 50year-old US specialized distributor Janus Films during its 44thedition which runs from Sept 29 to Oct 15 this year.

Theretrospective will kick off with Jean Renoir's seminal La Regle Du Jeu (1939) on Sept 30 and will continue till Oct 27, afterthe festival finishes. Most of the films will screen in new prints at theLincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater.

Amongthe other classics in the series are Les Enfants Du Paradis (1945), La Belle Et La Bete (1946), The Seven Samurai (1954), La Strada(1954), The Seventh Seal (1954), Viridiana (1961) and Les Quatre Cent Coups (1959).

Meanwhilethis year's selection committee for new films comprises Richard Pena, programdirector of the Film Society Of Lincoln Center, Kent Jones, associate directorof programming, Lisa Schwarzbaum of 'Entertainment Weekly', critic and writer JohnPowers and author Phillip Lopate.
