In a repeat of Berlin'sEuropean Film Market, Japanese buyers are devouring Korean product in pre-salesworth millions of dollars.

Korea's Showbox has pre-soldaction title Running Wild toJapan's Amuse Soft Entertainment for an undisclosed seven figure sum. Shootingnow, it stars hot young Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo.

It's the first of two bigJapanese pre-buys of the market: Japan's Happinet Pictures has also acquiredMirovision horror title A.P.T.for another multi-million dollar sum. Directed by horror maestro Ahn Byung-ki,the film is based on one of Korea's most popular horror comic series and isscheduled to start shooting in June.

Korean titles are also beingsnapped up in the West: Show East has pre-sold melodrama April Snow, starringBae Yong-joon, currently one of Asia's hottest stars, to France's PrettyPictures.

Directed by Hur Jin-ho, thefilm has been widely sold across Asia but the French deal marks the first saleto Europe. "It's highly unusual to pre-sell a [Korean] melodrama to Europe but thebuyer sees Hur as the next big director to emerge from Asia," says Show Eastsales chief Michelle Son.

In addition, Tartan Filmshas snapped up UK rights to period crime thriller Blood Rain from Cinema Service. Directed by Kim Dae-seung, itis currently number one at the Korean box office.
