CineEurope will present its 2011 UNIC Achievement Award to Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français president Jean Labé

Labé is the president of the Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français, and vice president of the Union Internationale des Cinémas/International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) as well as Commodore in the “Arts et Lettres” national order and a knight in the national “Mérite” order.

He receives the Achievement Award for “outstanding work with UNIC, helping to promote and protect cinema in Europe and communicating with cinema exhibitors on matters of importance to their industry.”

Labé began managing two cinemas in the Paris region in the late 1960s. From there he moved on to become the owner of Auxerre Cinemas in Burgundy, later building an eight screen multiplex in 1999.

“His support and advice have been invaluable as we have sought to build the influence and reputation of the organisation” said Ad Weststrate, President, UNIC.

Trade show CineEurope runs June 27-30 in Amsterdam.
