Kadokawa HeraldPictures will make a third instalment in its hit One Missed Call horror series, company sources have revealed.Called Chakushin Ari Final (One MissedCall Final), the new film will be directed by Manabu Aso and will starMeisa Kuroki and Maki Horikita, two seventeen-year-old ingenues whohaveenjoyed a meteoric rise to the topthis year.

The first film in the series, Takashi Miike's One Missed Call, grossed $9.5 million (Y1.5billion) in Japanfollowing its 2004 release. Based on a story by Yasushi Akimoto, the filmgenerated shocks from mysterious calls to mobile phones that predicted theuser's death with uncanny accuracy.

The follow-up, with a similar premise, but setmainly in Taiwan,earned $8.2 million (Y1.0 billion) in Japan.Also, Kadokawa is partnering with Intermedia for a Hollywoodremake of the original film.

In thenew film, a high school girl sends adeath message on her mobile after being bullied by classmates. Horikita, whoappears inthe smash hit Takashi Yamazaki period piece Always -- Sunset on Third Street, playsthe sender, while Kuroki, who stars in theKenta Fukasakudrama Under the Same Moon, plays a classmatecaught up in the ensuing havoc.

Shooting will start shooting next February, withToho set to release next summer.
