NikhilAdvani's Kal Ho Naa Ho walked awaywith eight top honours at this year's International Indian Film Academy awards(IIFA) - Bollywood's equivalent to the Oscar's - bagging best film, bestactress (Preity Zinta), best supporting actor(Saif Ali Khan) and actress (Jaya Bachchan) as well as four out of the fiveawards in the music category.

Butthe romantic drama's heartthrob, Shah Rukh Khan, was beaten in the best actorcategory by Hritik Roshan who won the award for his performance as amentally-retarded youth in Koi Mil Gay, a sci-fi moviedirected by his father Rakesh Roshan that won him best director.

BomanIrani was named best performer in a comic role in Munnabhai MBBS while Feroz Khan was best performer in a negativerole in Janasheen. Singapore'spresident SR Nathan presented an outstanding contribution to Indian cinemaaward to the king of tragedy Dilip Kumar.

Singaporeplayed host to the IIFA this year with a three-day extravaganza that culminatedin the May 22 awards gala, which was opened by IIFA ambassador and Bollywoodveteran Amitabh Bachchan.

Over400 Bollywood stars and professionals and a 11,000-strong crowd reportedlyattended the event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which was broadcast live toan estimated half a billion audience worldwide, mainly in the Indiansubcontinent.
