Onlyhours before its official screening on Monday evening, Venice artistic directorMarco Mueller unveiled Kim Ki-duk's 3 Iron (Binjip) as thefestival's "surprise" 22nd competition entry.

Thefilm, which tells the story of a homeless man who rescues a wealthy woman whois beaten by her husband, has only just been completed and will have its worldpremiere in Venice before heading to Toronto.

Meanwhile,the Venice Mezzanotte sidebar will screen Donnie Darko - TheDirector's Cut instead of Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow, which is still inpost-production.
