Hungariandirector Krisztina Goda beganprincipal photography March 5 on Childrenof Glory, a Hungarian-UK co-production based on a script by Joe Eszterhas and produced by Andy Vajna.

"Thisis an epic movie portraying the heroic efforts of the Hungarian people to tryto break the chains of their Communist occupiers and thereby influence thehistory of Europe," Vajnasaid in statement released to the press.

The filmtakes place in 1956. As Soviet tanks invade Hungary, the Hungarian water polo team decimatesthe Soviets in Melbourne in what has been described as the bloodiestwater polo match in history. The story focuses on a love affair between arevolutionary student, played by Kata Dobo (Rollerball, BasicInstinct 2) and the star of the water polo team, played by Ivan Fenyo (Mansfield,Jarhead).

The cast alsoincludes Sandor Csanyi (Kontroll, Just Sex and Nothing Else) and Peter Haumann (Fateless). VicArmstrong (War of the Worlds, M:I 3) willdirect the action sequences. Hungarian company DigicPictures will handle special effects.

The film willbe shot primarily in Hungarian and has qualified for UK and Hungarian State aid. Clive Parsons of BusinessAffairs Productions is the UK co-producer. No sales agent hasbeen appointed at this stage. Budget details were not released.

Filming isscheduled to wrap May 9. The producers are aiming for an October 23 release tocoincide with the 50th anniversary of the revolution.

Goda'sfilm Just Sex and Nothing Elsewon Best Screenplay at this year's Hungarian Film Week and has been dominatingbox-offices in Hungary;Csanyi won Best Actor at the same eventfor his role in the film.
