La Fabrique De Films, the French distributor run by Verane Frediani, hasacquired French rights to US Forum entry On The Outs, directed by LoriSilverbush and Michael Skolnik. Andrew Herwitz's The Film Sales Company, whichis representing the film, closed the deal.

The film, which follows the story of three US inner city teenage girlsas they try to grow up in what seem like impossible circumstances, recently wonthe top audience and jury prizes at the Slamdance Film Festival and isnominated for the John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit Awards whichtake place on Feb 26.

On The Outs was filmed in a hyper-realistic style on the streetsof Jersey City, New Jersey, and in the same juvenile detention centre where thefilm-makers worked for months with incarcerated young women, many of whomappear in the film.

The cast is led by Judy Marte (Raising Victor Vargas) andnewcomers Paola Mendoza and Anny Mariano.

Herwitz said that a US distribution deal is close to being finalised.
