Indian actor Arfi Lamba will star in Prakash Belawadi’s environmental zombie film The Pollutant, which is taking part in the Co-production Market of this year’s Film Bazaar.
Helena Danielsson is producing the English-language project through her two production outfits – India-based Palak Paneer Film Production and Hepp Film, based in Sweden. India’s Reliance MediaWorks is also on board as a partner for facilities, studios and post-production.
Scripted by Swedish author Zac O’Yeah, the story revolves around a filmmaker who goes to investigate why all the students died in a remote school and discovers that local pollution has turned them all into psychotic zombies.
Lamba, who is the first lead actor to join the project, will play the role of a nerdy sound engineer, who is in love with the filmmaker. He previously played a small role in Slumdog Millionaire and has built up a body of work in short films and theatre.
