Leah Weil has been promoted to corporate senior vice president and general counsel for Sony Pictures Entertainment with responsibility for all company legal matters. She was previously executive vice president, legal affairs and deputy general counsel.

Reporting to Beth Berke, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, Weil is now the most senior legal officer at SPE. She will oversee all legal and labor relations matters and will serve as SPE's liaison to Sony Corp on a wide range of legal activities.

Among the legal matters on which she has been involved include SPE's longterm output deal with Starz Encore, the restructuring of SPE's relationship with Mandalay Entertainment and SPE's investments in US Spanish language network Telemundo.

Weil joined SPE in 1996 and served as senior counsel; before joining the company, she was in private practice in her own firm.
