Clint Eastwood's Letters From Iwo Jima will receive itsworld premiere at Tokyo's Budokan arena on November 15.

The multiple AcademyAward-winning director is confirmed to attend the red carpet event at the famedvenue, as well as a press conference with the film's Japanese cast scheduledfor the following day.

Lettersfollows Flags Of Our Fathers as thesecond of two films that depict events surrounding the battle for the island of Iwo Jima during WWII. Originally titled RedSun, Black Sand, the film is told from the Japanese perspective, centeringon real life Japanese General Tadamichi Kuribayashi, played by Ken Watanabe,who led a 40-day battle against American troops.

Flags of Our Fathers gets its international premiere (one day after its US bow) as the opening film of the Tokyo InternationalFilm Festival on October 21. It opens domestically a week later on October 28.

Letters From Iwo Jima opens theatrically on December 9 in Japan and is slated for a February 9, 2007 release in the US.
