The Magdalene Sisters, Young Adam, In This World, The Hours and The Mother have been shortlisted in the best British film category for the London Film Critics' Awards.

The best film category, meanwhile, comprises Master and Commander, The Hours, Far From Heaven, Mystic River and Lord of the Rings.

The 24th London Film Critics' Awards will be held at the Dorchester on February 11th, 2004.

This event will be hosted by Mariella Frostrup and Critics' Circle Film Section chairman John Marriott.

The London Film Critics' Awards is voted for by film critics from all over Britain and is in aid of charity, the NSPCC.
