Columbia TriStar's Maid In Manhattan made good in the UK last weekend, with the Jennifer Lopez vehicle claiming the top spot and a three-day gross of $3.9m from 422 sites.

Despite poor reviews, that's a sterling site average of over $9,000 for the rags-to-riches romantic comedy, in which J-Lo plays a hotel maid who falls in love with Ralph Fiennes' charismatic politician. Last month, J-Lo made a high profile visit to London for the film's premiere.

After two weeks on the top spot, The Ring was knocked down to number two by Maid In Manhattan. Nevertheless, the Naomi Watts starring horror remake is still playing well for distributor UIP, taking a three day gross of $2m to push its total gross up to $11.3m.

Jackass: The Movie, last week's highest opener at number two, dropped down one place this week with a 40% fall-off from its opening weekend. The film, distributed by UIP, took a three day gross of $1.3m from 337 sites, for a cumulative gross of $4.6m.

Also dropping off in its second week was Warner Bros' mob comedy Analyze That, down over 50% on its opening weekend with a three day gross of $400,000 for a total gross of $1.7m.

The only other new openers to make the top ten this week was Todd Haynes' Douglas Sirk homage Far From Heaven, which entered the chart at number seven, with a three-day take of $723,000 for distributor Entertainment. That's a site average of $3,700 for the film, which was released in the UK to ecstatic reviews and editorials on star Julianne Moore.

Of the other openers, Columbia TriStar's Auto Focus saw a three day gross of $24,000 from 19 sites, while Helkon SK's Britpop documentary Live For Ever took $9,100 from 12 sites.
