Argentine director first woman subject of a “Tribute to” programme at the festival.
Argentina’s Lucrecia Martel will be the subject of the “Tribute to” programme at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival (July 22 - 30).
It is the first time the festival’s tribute slot is devoted to a woman director and a film-maker from Latin America.
Martel burst onto the global scene with La Cienega in 2001 and her second and third films – The Holy Girl (2004) and The Headless Woman (2008) - were both in competition in Cannes.
The tribute, which is being curated by Sarajevo programmer Howard Feinstein, will show her features as well as her shorts and documentary work.
