Former director of creative affairs at Lolafilms UK, Nadine Luque has been appointed new director of the Film Business School, part of the MEDIA Programme-backed pan-European training initiative the Media Business School (MBS).

Luque's initial one-year contract with MBS will span two intensive four-day sessions of the Film Business School, a training course for producers.

Luque says she envisions a greater European focus for the courses, and plans to invite both new and veteran producers to participate. "Co-productions are the only way forward for financing films in Europe, and unless we help young producers understand that process there's a high probability there won't be much of an independent industry left soon," she says.

Luque takes over from Jonathan Olsberg, who has led the Film Business School for the past eight years. She will work alongside MBS director Juan Pita.

Meanwhile Lola CEO Andres Vicente Gomez says it is "possible" he will hire a replacement for Luque at Lola UK, the Spanish company's fledgling London-based English-language production and sales arm.
