Shirley MacLaine will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award,Charlize Theron will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress, andThomas Newman will collect the Frederick Loewe Award for Film Composing at the17th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) in January.

"We are thrilled to add Shirley MacLaine, Charlize Theron andThomas Newman to this year's stellar lineup of honourees," festival chairmanEarl Greenberg said.

"Throughout both of their careers, MacLaine and Theron'sremarkable passion and unforgettable performances have distinguished them inevery aspect of their work, including their most recent projects, In HerShoes and NorthCountry.

"From Jarhead to Cinderella Man, Newman's music elevates each of the films he scores to newartistic heights."

The trio will receive their honours at PSIFF's awards gala on Jan7. As previously announced, David Cronenberg, Jake Gyllenhaal, Terrence Howardand Michael London will also be honoured.
