Madonna has confirmed thatshe will compose and perform the main title song for the 20th JamesBond film Die Another Day whichis scheduled to open around the world on Nov 22 this year.

"We are thrilled that Madonna, who is recognized as theworld's most exciting songwriter and performer, has agreed to compose andsing the song for the first James Bond film of the new millennium," saidproducers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli in a statement.

She follows a grandtradition of singing talent which has performed the theme songs for the filmsincluding Matt Munro (From Russia With Love), Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger, Diamonds AreForever, Moonraker), Tom Jones (Thunderball), Nancy Sinatra (You Only Live Twice), Louis Armstrong ("We Have All The Time InThe World" from On Her Majesty's Secret Service), Paul McCartney & Wings (Live And Let Die), Lulu (The Man With The Golden Gun), Carly Simon ("Nobody Does It Better"from The Spy Who Loved Me),Sheena Easton (For Your Eyes Only),Rita Coolidge ("All Time High" from Octopussy), DuranDuran (A View To A Kill), GladysKnight (License To Kill), A-Ha (TheLiving Daylights), Tina Turner (GoldenEye), Sheryl Crow (Tomorrow Never Dies) and Garbage (The World Is Not Enough).

Madonna has previously sungsongs for films including At Close Range ("Live To Tell"), VisionQuest ("Crazy For You"), A League Of TheirOwn ("This Used To Be MyPlayground"), With Honors("I'll Remember"), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me ("Beautiful Stranger"), Who'sThat Girl' ("Who's ThatGirl'") and The Next Best Thing ("American Pie") not to mention Evita in which she sang the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Ricestage score and the Oscar-winning song "You Must Love Me".
