Hong Kong’s Mega-Vision Pictures (MVP), the production company founded by veteran producer Wong Jing, is making its debut as a sales company at the AFM.

The company’s initial slate includes Ann Hui’s All About Love and upcoming action drama Naked Solider, a follow-up to Naked Weapon, produced by Wong in 2002.

In addition, former Celestial Pictures executive Gordon Cheung has been appointed as president, acquisition & distribution, of MVP subsidiary Mega-Vision Project Distribution.

Cheung will work with Wong to produce and distribute three to four projects a year that can travel outside of Asian markets. Budgeted at around $4-8m these productions will be mostly in the action drama, action comedy, thriller and horror genres.

“Some of these projects will also be distributed in China, depending on the story and subject matter,” explained Cheung. “Wong Jing has good relationships with the major stars in Hong Kong so we may also do bigger-budget productions.”

Directed by Marco Mak with Corey Yuen as action director, the $6m Naked Solider is scheduled to wrap at the end of December for release in the first quarter of 2011. The cast is headed by action legend Sammo Hung, Andy On (True Legend), Philip Ng (Bodyguards And Assassins) and up-and-coming actress J.T. Hui’s lesbian-themed romantic comedy All About Love premiered at the summer edition of the Hong Kong International Film Festival in August this year. Sandra Ng and Vivian Chow star in the film as former lovers who reunite when they both become pregnant.
