London-basedMetropolitan Film School has launched a new two-year BA degree in film-making,which will start in October 2007.

The schoolsaid this course would offer practical training in digital film production,with an estimated contact time with tutors of 50% compared to the usual 20%.

Producer and school director Jonny Persey said: "Creating aprofessional working environment is crucial to this course and we are focusedfrom the beginning on our students' first steps into the industry aftergraduation. By the end of the course, students will have a showreel, a soundacademic foundation in film, as well as the unique experience of working on alive feature film."

The course will cover narrative skills in writing, directingand producing as well as cinematography, editing and sound design. A parallelcourse studies film history. Second-year students can work on the development,production, marketing and distribution of a feature film.
