Metrodome has acquired full UK and Irish rights to Beta Film's North Face in a multi-territory deal which also saw Rialto distribution acquire Australian and New Zealand rights

The deal was negotiated by Metrodome's CEO Peter Urie, General Manager Distribution Sara Frain, Head of Acquisitions James Brown and by Beta Film's Andreas Rothbauer.

Directed by Philipp Stolzl, North Face tells the story of two Bavarian soldiers who climb the north face of the Eiger, one of the most difficult ascents in the Alps. The film is based on real events and is set in the summer of 1936.

Sara Frain of Metrodome said 'It's been a long time since cinema audiences in the UK have enjoyed such a gripping mountaineering adventure. We're excited to end that stretch with North Face and to embark on our third collaboration with Beta Films.'

Metrodome's previous releases include the Oscar winner The Counterfeiters, and Oscar nomineeAway From Her. Recently announced acquisitions include Michael Winterbottom's Geneva and British film Flame and Citron starring Mads Mikkelsen. Included in their 2008 line-up are The Warlords, starring Jet Li and Flawless starring Michael Caine and Demi Moore.

North Face will screen at the Pusan International Film Festival and at the Antalya Film Festival.
