In a bid to boost the profile of Mexican films in Europe, national Mexican film institute IMCINE is organising with Unifrance a week of screenings in Paris of new Mexican titles.

Between November 12 and 19 in various cinemas across Paris, five films will be screened for the industry, including Jose Luis Garcia's Agraz's Al Rescate del Trinidad and Alejandro Gamboa's El Tigre De Santa Julia. Nine films will also screened for the public.

This is the first year IMCINE will be specifically targeting buyers in Europe. "It's hard to make sales in Europe and this is a chance to present our films to the French industry," said Miguel Angel Ortega, head of international sales at Imcine.

In an attempt to increase sales of Mexican titles in Europe, last year the organisation signed a first-look deal on all its productions with Spanish-based sales agent (KWA), including Streeters (De La Calle) and Violet Perfume (Perfume De Violetas), both of which were winners at the Guadalajara Film Festival.
