Men In Black II (MIIB) recorded the second highest opening of all time in France over the weekend, taking a superb $10m from 916 screens for Columbia TriStar Film Distributors International (CTFDI), according to estimates released today. The sci-fi sequel trails only Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone in the French opening rankings.

In its second weekend on release in the UK, MIIB held well with a $5m take from 889 screens that represented a 35% drop. Overall the picture registered an international weekend total of $21.6m across 5,670 screens to give it a $162m cumulative score.

Stuart Little 2 held well in its fourth weekend in the UK, grossing $1.2m from 612 screens to give it a terrific $12.4m cumulative for the territory. In its second weekend in Spain the family sequel only dropped 15% to $800,000 and a $2.7m cumulative score. The picture grossed $4.6m in its international territories over the weekend and, with a $31.1m cumulative total from half the world markets, has a shot at finishing in the $90m-$100m range.

Ten weeks after it opened in the US, Enough, the Jennifer Lopez female empowerment drama, began its international roll-out in Mexico, taking $1m in five days on 300 screens. The picture is scheduled to open across Europe in September.
