Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures has signed exclusive TV distribution deals for its Shaw Brothers library with Slovenia's Viasat Broadcasting UK Limited (Viasat) and Israel's SAT-Interactive Limited (SAT).

The Viasat deal marks the first time that the Shaw Brothers martial arts films will be available on TV3 Slovenia. Titles included in the deal include martial arts classics such as The Five Deadly Venoms, The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin and The One-Armed Swordsman.

Under the SAT deal, the Shaw Brothers titles will be available on Hot Cable Channel and video-on-demand platforms in Israel.

Meanwhile, Celestial is attending MIPCOM this year with a slate of Shaw Brothers titles that have been re-mastered in High Definition (HD) format, along with it's recently launched mobile TV channel Kungfu TV.

Kungfu TV features 'bite-sized' segments of kung-fu film clips from the Shaw Brothers library.

The company will also be selling its mobisodes, adapted from classics such as King Boxer and Twelve Gold Medallions. The films have been re-edited into short 2-to-3-minute episodes and enhanced by animation and music remixes.

The King Boxer series of mobisodes has recently been nominated for the MIPCOM Mobile and Internet TV Awards, in the 'Best Short Film, originally created or repurposed for mobile' category. The awards show will take place on October 10 in Cannes during MIPCOM.
