Miramax has grabbed multi-territory rights to Gabriele Salvatores' I'm Not Scared (Io Non Ho Paura) which plays in competition in Berlin.

Handled by UK sales house Capitol Films, the film was licensed to Miramax for North America, the UK, France, Australia and New Zealand, territories in which Miramax has its own distribution capacity or a relationship with Buena Vista International. The film will be released in Italy on March 14 by Medusa and in Spain by 20th Century Fox.

The film, a thriller which also speaks about the painful process of growing up, is based on Niccolo Ammaniti's best-seller. It was produced by Italy's Colorado Film and Cattleya in association with Medusa.

"We are delighted to be working with Gabriele Salvatores again after our major success with the Oscar-winning Medditerraneo," said Rick Sands, Miramax chief operating officer. Capitol co-chief, Jane Barclay said, "I'm Not Scared is a remarkable piece of filmmaking and we are thrilled that the film will be brought to audiences in these key territories by Miramax Films."

The deal was brokered Barclay and Sands with Agnes Mentre and Maeva Gattineau of Miramax.
