Korea's MK Pictures has soldIm Sang-soo's Directors' Fortnight title The President's Last Bang to France's CIPA and also revealed details of thedirector's next project.

CIPA is planning an Octoberrelease for The President's Last Bang, a creative retelling of the assassination of president Park Chung-heein 1979. The company handled Im's previous film, A Good Lawyer's Wife, which screened in competition at Venice in 2003. Itreleased the film in March on 20 prints.

Meanwhile, Im is currentlyscripting his next film, which has the working title Be With You, and aims to start production at the beginning of nextyear. Based on the best-selling novel An Old Garden, written by Seok-yeong Hwang, the story takes placeduring the student protests in Korea in the 1980s.

"It's set against the backdrop of the democratic movement butit's basically a love story - Im Sang-soo's first," said MK Pictures' Paul Yi.MK is expected to co-produce the $4.5m film with Korea's MBC Productions.

MK, which was formed lastyear from the merger of Kang Je Gyu Films and Myung Films, is making its Cannesdebut with a strong slate that also includes a sequel to Shiri and $2m dramaLittle Brother.
