IS Media, the company behinddefunct online entertainment operation InternetStudios, has launched aninternational sales and distribution outfit called MonteCristo Entertainmentunder sales and acquisitions executive Michael Taverna.

MonteCristo has acquiredinternational rights to a slate of independent films including comedy YardSale starring Andrea Robinson and David Lipper and thriller Milagros DeRio which will be directed by Carlos Avila.

Other titles available fromMonteCristo include horror movie Serial Slayer (aka Claustrophobia)about three girls at a slumber party who are terrorized by a killer; horrormovie American Nightmare 2 which will be ready by Cannes; and two titlesfrom Thailand - Seven Days In A Coffin and Hunch which areavailable in all territories except Asia.

The company is alsomarketing 24 classic titles which have been digitally remastered with originalsound and artwork including Stanley Donen's classic romantic thriller Charade.

MonteCristo, which hasoffices in New York and Prague, is operating out of its suite at the Hyatthere. IS Media chairman Robert MacLean is attending along with Taverna and histeam. Taverna was formerly a film-maker with credits including By The Sword(as producer) and Managua (as writer/director). In 2001 he joinedHorizon Entertainment as sales and acquisitions executive and was involved as TheRing, Dark Water, The Grudge and One Missed Call.

In 2002, he establishedMonteCristo Media Italy to co-produced European films and handle DVDdistribution.
