Roger Michell's The Mother, the Director's Fortnight title which world premieres tonight has closed UK, French and Spanish deals.

Momentum Pictures acquired UK theatrical and video rights from BBC Films, which financed the Hanif Kureishi screenplay about an older woman's affair with her daughter's boyfriend.

Renaissance Films, which is handling international sales, closed deals with UGC for France and Vertigo Films for Spain this week.

Sony Pictures Classics is distributing the film, which stars Daniel Craig and Anne Reid, in North America. Other distributors on board include Concorde/Tele Munchen in Germany, A Films and Cinelibre for Benelux, Odeon in Greece, Shani Films in Israel and Atalanta in Portugal.
