Netflix's Red EnvelopeEntertainment has acquired the U.S. rights for I'm Reed Fish, sold by ContentFilm International.

The Squared Foot productionis the first feature from director Zackary Adler. The coming-of-agecomedy/drama set in a small town stars Jay Baruchel, Alexis Bledel, SchuylerFisk, Victor Rasuk and DJ Qualls.

Screenwriter Akiva Goldsmanserved as executive producer alongside Kerry Foster and Michael Mihalke.

Red Envelope Entertainmentnegotiated the rights from CAA and Submarine Entertainment on behalf of thefilm-makers. Red Envelope plans a domestic theatrical release in early 2007,followed by a release on Netflix and on DVD through retail partners.

"One of our goals atRed Envelope Entertainment is to seek out fresh new voices from Americanindependent cinema," said Bahman Naraghi, head of Red EnvelopeEntertainment. "'I'm ReedFish joins The Puffy Chair and Sherrybaby as a youthful, exuberant example of this outreach."

The film premiered at theTribeca Film Festival.
