Independent distributor Upstream saw a strong turn out for Aki Kaurismaki's The Man Without A Past when it opened on a mere 13 screens.
The second part of the director's acclaimed 'Finland' trilogy, about a man with amnesia following an assault, trying to put his life back in order while living on the outskirts of Helsinki, claimed $30,901 (Euros 26,946) including previews for a $2,400 screen average.
Although it landed behind Matchstick Men in the chart, James Mangold's thriller Identity was the strongest new release boasting a $4,630 screen average over the weekend.
Including previews the film, which stars John Cusack and Ray Liotta, scored $163,581 (Euros 142,643) which would have placed it higher than Matchstick Men and The Lizzie McGuire Movie were previews included in the opening weekend figures in The Netherlands.
