Universal plans a 12-screenUK release of the alternate version of Pride & Prejudice that was recentlyunveiled in the US.

The US version of the film has an extended ending thatwasn't seen during the original UK release.

Starting November 25,United International Pictures will release the extended version in select UKand Irish theatres.

The Universal and WorkingTitle production, directed by Joe Wright, stars Keira Knightley and MatthewMacfadyen in a new adaptation of the Jane Austen novel.

Producer Paul Webstersaid, "We were absolutely delighted in the continued interest in Pride& Prejudice and are excited about the opportunity to show the US ending to theBritish public."

The British version of the film ends withElizabeth's father (played by Donald Sutherland) giving his consent for Mr.Darcy to marry his daughter. The American ending has a shot of Darcy andElizabeth kissing in the moonlight. "You got the more sugary one," MacFadyentold USA Today. "TheBrits hated it."
