‘Teen Cop’

South Korea’s Contents Panda has secured world sales rights to upcoming comedy action feature Teen Cop, starring Yoon Kyung-ho of box office smash My Daughter Is A Zombie and Kim Hye-yoon from hit horror Salmokji: Whispering Water.

The sales agent will introduce the film to international buyers at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan next month.

The story follows a young-looking undercover detective and an older-looking student who team up to investigate a mysterious hit-and-run at high school.

Yoon plays Kyu-jin, the high school student who is mistaken as an undercover detective due to his mature appearance. Kim stars as the real officer, Detective Hee-yeon, who needs Kyu-jin’s help to blend in at school.

The film is produced by Sanai Pictures, the production company behind Park Hoon-jung’s New World and Lee Il-hyung’s A Violent Prosecutor, box office hits in 2013 and 2016 respectively. Bound Entertainment and Story Rooftop are co-producers on the project, which is in post-production.

It marks the feature directorial debut of Yang Jun-ho, whose credits as assistant director include New World.

Yoon is known for comedy horror My Daughter Is A Zombie, which was the biggest local film at last year’s box office, and action series Agent Kim Reactivated while Kim is known for TV series Lovely Runner and horror feature Salmokji: Whispering Water, South Korea’s sixth biggest film of this year to date.

Teen Cop leads Contents Panda’s ACFM slate, which also includes psychological horror Shaving, set to premiere in Competition at Busan, and thriller Final Interview, which will premiere in the festival’s Korean Cinema Today – Panorama section.

Further titles include hard-boiled action thriller Lilith (working title) from The Moon Flows Through The River director Lee Dong-Hyun; and horror mystery The Other Side starring Cha Sun-woo of The Cursed and hit TV drama Reply 1994. Both films are in post-production ahead of a planned release later this year.

The 21st ACFM is set to take place from October 10-13 alongside Busan International Film Festival.
