Twelve projects from nine countries have been selected for this year’s Baltic Event co-production market, which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia (December 1-3).

The selected projects include a screen version of Sofi Oksanen’s award-winning novel Purge, produced by Solar Films Inc, and the newest project by Finnish director Aku Louhimies, Naked Harbour, which will be produced by Liisa Penttilä and Pauli Pentti from Edith Film.

Estonian director/producer Jaak Kilmi is taking Football For Beginners (Kuukulgur Film).

Latvia is represented by perhaps its most well-known director/producer, Laila Pakalnina. Pakalnina’s new project is Pizzas(Hargla Company), a quirky story of two pizza bakers.

Russian producer Artem Vassiliev and director Alexei German Jr. will present their project Under Electric Clouds (Metrafilms).

An additional four projects from Russian and Ukraine have been selected for the first annual Baltic Event for East (BE’E) initiative. The scheme aims promote co-operation and co-production between the Baltic, Scandinavian, Central-Eastern European, Russian and Ukrainian industries.

The BE’E project list includes new projects by some of Russia and Ukraine’s most successful directors. Among them is Sergey Loznitsa’s next film project In the Fog (Ukraine/Russia).
