EXCLUSIVE: Moroccan director Laïla Marrakchi’s Strawberries (La Mas Dulce), starring Nisrin Erradi, has been plucked by a basket of buyers ahead of its Un Certain Regard premiere on Monday.
Lucky Number has sold the film to Austria (Panda Lichtspiele Filmverleih), Greece (Weirdwave), Germany ( immergutefilme), Benelux (Imagine Film Distribution), ex-Yugoslavia and Bulgaria (MCF Megacom). Jour2Fête will release the film in France, Asdo Films in Spain and Praesens Film in Switzerland.
Marrakchi’s third feature centres on a group of Moroccan strawberry pickers in Spain, who form a tight bond as they seek justice against harsh conditions and abuse.
It is produced by France’s Lumen and Morocco’s Mont Fleuri Production with Spain’s Fasten Films and Belgium’s Mirage Films.
Strawberries won Marrakech Atlas Workshops’ work-in-progress post-production prize in 2025.
