Dogwoof secures UK and international rights to Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s doc Blackfish

UK sales and distribution outfit Dogwoof has secured UK and foreign rights to Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s documentary Blackfish.

The agreement was brokered by Oli Harbottle and Vesna Cudic for Dogwoof with David Koh for Submarine and marks the latest collaboration between the two companies.

Blackfish, about a performing whale that killed several people while in captivity, premiered at Sundance with Magnolia and CNN Films picking up US rights.

“For me, Blackfish is the first film since Grizzly Man to show just how nature can get revenge on man when pushed to its limits,” said Anna Godas, CEO Dogwoof.

“We are delighted to be working again with Submarine, handling this film consolidates Dogwoof’s position as a key player for documentary.”
