Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson and Daisy Edgar-Jones have been set to star in Here Comes The Flood, a heist feature to be directed by Fernando Meirelles for Netflix.

Written by Simon Kinberg, the film will focus on a bank guard who plots a robbery with a master thief and has a relationship with a bank teller. A series of twists eventually reveals a con game at the centre of the story.

The film, which has been in development at Netflix for a number of years, will be produced by Meirelles with Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Films. Samson Mucke will serve as an executive producer.

The project was unveiled at Netflix’s upfront presentation to advertisers this week in New York.

Also announced at the presentation was Fight For ‘84, a feature based on the true story of the 1984 US Olympics boxing team, with Jamie Foxx starring as the new coach brought in to rebuild the team after a tragic plane crash.

The film will be produced by Eric Newman for Grand Electric, Bryan Unkeless for Night Owl, and Foxx and Michael W Abbott for A Move Films Production.

Other news emerging from the Netflix upfront included orders for fifth and sixth seasons of Regency-era drama series Bridgerton and a season four greenlight for political drama The Diplomat.

Netflix also used the event to highlight the growth of its ad-supported plan, launched two-and-a-half years ago. The plan now reaches more than 94m global monthly active users, said the streamer, and more 18-34-year-olds than any other US broadcast or cable network.
