‘Darkgame’

Post-production is underway on Howard J Ford’s latest thriller Darkgame starring Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick.

GFM Film Sales has boarded world sales rights on the film through its genre label Evolution Pictures. It will launch sales at Toronto Film Festival this week, sharing footage with buyers.

Screen can reveal an exclusive first look at the film, above.

From a script by Gary Grant and Niall Johnson, Darkgame centres on a Portland private detective heading up the task force investigating the case of six people forced to play out a deadly reality game show on the ‘dark web’ for the entertainment of the criminal underworld.

Andrew P Stephen, Natalya Tsvetkova, Lola Wayne, Rory Alexander and Reynolds star alongside Westwick. Tom George is producing for the UK’s Happy Hour Productions, with Joseph Crepaldi, Polina Nioly and Westwick as executive producers.

Ford described the script as “deliciously dark” and Westwick as “such a powerful performer,” while George added that Darkgame “not only delivers on the shocks, but also explores where reality TV could go in the hands of a psychopath, and how social media can be a driving force for fame, at any cost.”

GFM Film Sales’ Fred Hedman added, “Darkgame is a wonderful mixture of nail-biting action cop thriller and blood-chilling horror.”

Ford previously worked with GFM Film Sales on 2022 thriller The Ledge; his eight features as director also include 2021’s The Lockdown Hauntings and 2019’s Adventure Boyz.
