Following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Screen can reveal the first trailer for Ernesto Daranas’ comedy Sergio & Sergei.

The Cuban/American/Spanish co-production is set in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union, focusing on two men from Cuba and the former USSR respectively.

Sergio (Tomás Cao Uriza) is a ham radio operator and Marxism professor who struggles to get his life back on track and provide for his family, while Sergei (Héctor Noas) is the last Soviet Cosmonaut who is forgotten on a broken down space station.

The pair manage to contact each other through the radio and strike up a friendship as they navigate the massive changes in their countries.

Sergio & Sergei also stars Ron Perlman (Hellboy), with the screenplay written by Ernesto and Marta Daranas.

Jaume Roures is producer with Javier Méndez from Mediapro executive producing, alongside producers Ramón Samada, Joel Ortega and executive producers Adriana Moyá and Danilo León.
