EXCLUSIVE: Independent US distributor Giant Pictures has unveiled an international sales slate for the Cannes market including its own recent and upcoming releases and titles from partner labels Tribeca Films and Drafthouse Films.
Giant’s international sales division was launched earlier this year by company general manager Nick Savva, Bill Sondheim and Tom Bairstow. Bairstow will represent the company at Cannes.
From Tribeca come two documentaries recently acquired for the world: Beyond The Gaze: Jule Campbell’s Swimsuit Issue and The Britto Doc, about Brazilian pop artist Romero Britto.
Also on the slate is Drafthouse’s Mockbuster, an Australian documentary, directed by Anthony Frith and currently in post production, about a filmmaker making his first feature for B-movie studio The Asylum.
Giant’s catalogue titles available for sales include the restored version of 2004 Corey Feldman horror comedy The Birthday; boxing drama The Featherweight; restoration Caligula: The Ultimate Cut; upcoming release Ebony And Ivory; and Andy Kaufman documentary Thank You Very Much.
Savva commented: “It’s a thrill to see Giant Pictures spread its wings with this new international presence and our growing roster of titles. We look forward to meeting with our colleagues across the globe and getting the word out there about the breadth of titles that we have to offer.”
Mockbuster director Frith added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering on international sales with Giant Pictures. They’ve been a crucial supporter of Mockbuster from the very beginning, and we can’t wait to unleash my dino-fuelled journey through the back alleys of Hollywood onto the world.”
