HBO

As it continues to ramp up its production slate, HBO has given a series order to comedy Mrs Fletcher, based on a Tom Perrotta novel that Nicole Holofcener will direct and serve on as executive producer.

Kathryn Hahn and Jackson White will star as an empty nest mother and her college student son in a story exploring the impact of internet porn and social media.

Perrotta, whose novels Election and Little Children have previously been turned into features and who co-created HBO’s version of his book The Leftovers, will write the series and serve as an executive producer along with Jessi Klein and Sarah Condon.

Set to increase its output of original scripted programming in the wake of parent Warner Bros’ merger with AT&T, HBO has recently given series orders to a new version of Watchmen, from Damon Lindelof, Euphoria, a US version of the Israeli teen drama, and Camping, a US version, from co-creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, of the UK series.

The premium cable network also has pilots for Armando Iannucci space comedy Avenue 5 and televangelist comedy The Righteous Gemstones.
