Jude Law has been confirmed to play the lead role in Paolo Sorrentino’s upcoming TV series The Young Pope, about a fictional American Pope who becomes the most conservative leader the Vatican has ever seen.

The eight-episode production, backed by Sky, HBO And Canal +, is due to shoot this summer.
