Ryan Andrew Hooper’s feature debut The Toll, starring Michael Smiley and Annes Elwy, has wrapped after shooting on location in Wales.

‘The Toll’

Produced by Vaughan Sivell and Mark Hopkins for Western Edge Pictures through the Ffilm Cymru Wales’ Cinematic scheme, the thriller features Smiley as a man working solo shifts in the quietest toll booth in Wales, hiding from a criminal past where nobody would ever look. Elwy plays a traffic cop who heads to the booth at exactly the wrong time. It is written by Matt Redd. 

Smiley’s recent credits include Thomas Napper’ Jawbone, BBC TV series Luther, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rising star Elwy recent appeared as Beth in the BBC TV version of Little Women with Maya Hawke and in Gareth Bryn’s feature The Passing in 2015.

Iwan Rheon (Game Of Thrones), Paul Kaye (The Ghoul) and Steve Oram (Sightseers) also star. 

The Toll  is executive produced by Adam Partridge for Ffilm Cymru Wales, Mary Burke for the BFI, Gwawr Martha Lloyd for S4C, Jim Reeve for Great Point Media and Paul Higgins for Fields Park Media Partners.
